As the difference between ambient air and the air encapsulated in the EPS foam in a Net-Zero SIP panel become more and more pronounced, the r-value of the foam increases. The practical implication is that the colder it gets, the more insulation value the foam has.  For example, one inch of Type I EPS foam, like what we use in our SIPs, has an R-value of 4.15 at 55 degrees F which increases to 4.8 when the ambient temperature drops to -25 degrees F.
